History
The provision of aged care and accommodation services by Masonic Care Queensland, previously known as Freemasons Homes, has a proud tradition dating back to 1913 when 17 acres was purchased at Sandgate for $2,800. By 1925 services were established at the Sandgate site and were progressively and substantially developed across a number of sites throughout Queensland.
Under the auspices of the Board of Benevolence and of Aged Masons, Widows and Orphans' Fund, Masonic Care Queensland is now one of the largest not-for-profit providers of aged care services in Queensland and services members of both the Masonic and general communities of Queensland.
The Golden Jubilee of the Aged Masons, Widows and Orphans' Fund was celebrated in 1995 and a full story of its history is available in the Golden Jubilee Year Booklet.
